Expected π-Adic Security Measures of Sequences

چکیده

Various measures of security of stream ciphers have been studied that are based on the problem of finding a minimum size generator for the keystream in some special class of generators. These include linear and p-adic spans, as well as π-adic span, which is based on a choice of an element π in a finite extension of the integers. The corresponding sequence generators are known as linear feedback shift registers, feedback with carry shift registers, and the more general algebraic feedback shift registers, respectively. In this paper the average behavior of such security measures when π = p > 0 or π = −p < 0 is studied. In these cases, if Z[π] is the ring of integers in its fraction field and is a UFD, it is shown that the average π-adic span is n−O(log(n)) for sequences with period n.

Periodic sequences with maximal N-adic complexity and large k-error N-adic complexity over ZI(N)

Complexity measures for keystream sequences over Z/(N) play a crucial role in designing good stream cipher systems. This correspondence shows a general upper bound on k-error N-adic complexity of periodic sequences over Z/(N), and establishes the existence of periodic sequences over Z/(N) which simultaneously possess maximal N-adic complexity and large k-error N-adic complexity. Under some cond...

The b-adic diaphony of digital (0, 1)-sequences: A central limit theorem and a relation to the classical diaphony

The b-adic diaphony is a quantitative measure for the irregularity of distribution of a sequence in the unit interval. In this paper we show that the b-adic diaphony of digital (0, 1)-sequences satisfies a central limit theorem. Further we show a relation between the functions χ δj b and ψb, which appear in the formulas for the classical diaphony and the b-adic diaphony of digital (0, 1)-NUT-se...

Feedback Registers Based on Ramified Extensions of the 2-Adic Numbers (Extended Abstract)

Mark Goresky t Andrew Klappex a A b s t r a c t A new class of feedback register, based on ramified extensions of the 2-adic numbers, is described. An algebraic framework for the analysis of these re~ters and the sequences they output is given. TilLs framework parallels that of linear feedback shift resistere. As one consequence of this, a method for cracking summation ciphers is given. These r...

The asymptotic behavior of N-adic complexity

We study the asymptotic behavior of stream cipher security measures associated with classes of sequence generators such as linear feedback shift registers and feedback with carry shift registers. For nonperiodic sequences we consider normalized measures and study the set of accumulation points for a fixed sequence. We see that the the set of accumulation points is always a closed subinterval of...

Twisted signs for p-adic linear groups

Let G be a reductive p-adic group and let θ be an automorphism of G of order at most two. Let π be an irreducible smooth representation of G that is taken to its dual by θ. The space V of π then carries a non-zero bilinear form ( , ) ( unique up to scaling) with the invariance property (π(g)v, π(g)w) = (v, w), for g ∈ G and v, w ∈ V . The form is easily seen to be symmetric or skew-symmetric an...
